Young Philanthropist Scholarship application deadline announced

Cowley County, KS: Power of the Purse (POP) is accepting applications for their 2020 Young Philanthropist scholarship. Power of the Purse is an organization of women who donate annually for a fund supporting projects to benefit women and children in our Cowley County community. The Young Philanthropist Scholarship opportunity is available to college sophomores, juniors, seniors and graduate students. (Prior under graduate recipients will be considered if student is now in graduate school.) This is the fifth year of the Young Philanthropist Scholarship.

The scholarship of up to $1,000 is intended to encourage young adults to include philanthropy as valuable and active part of life. Candidates are evaluated on their participation in philanthropic activities, especially those initiated or completed independently by the applicant. Successful candidates must be enrolled in a minimum of 9 credit hours, have a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or greater, and complete the required application and essay.

Power of the Purse was established with Legacy Regional Community Foundation in 2007. POP operates by combining membership contributions into a pool of funds to award grants and scholarships serving their mission to better the lives of women and children.
