Rally Cowley effort results in support for local business and relief fund

Cowley County, KS: The Rally Cowley Relief Fund has received a qualifying match of $6,535 from Legacy Foundation due to the collective actions of community members. To date there have been $6,535 in E-gift card purchases through the RALLY COWLEY program sponsored by the Winfield and Arkansas City Area Chambers of Commerce.

“We are very appreciative of the support for local business and the people of our community. We are all working together. Area leadership is doing what we can by finding funding, providing information and connecting resources. Even with our low confirmed case count, the needs continue to grow,” stated Yazmin Wood, Executive Director of Legacy, “I have been impressed with the agile response by the staffs, boards and volunteers of our nonprofit organizations. These agencies are under immense stress to be creative, resourceful and adaptive in providing for the critical needs of people in our community.”

Prairieland Partners is one of the businesses to show huge support for Rally Cowley by purchasing gift cards for their employees. Prairieland Partners manager Curtis Trecek stated, “We wanted to do this to show our support for local restaurants and other small businesses during this time. It is also a great way for us to show our appreciation to our employees by passing these gift cards along to them and their families.” Prairieland Partners has spent $2,680 on local gift cards that will be matched by Legacy Foundation with a donation into the local coronavirus relief fund.

We need your help. What can you do? Purchase E-gift cards for your favorite local small businesses through the program set-up by the Arkansas City and Winfield Area Chambers of Commerce at https://winfieldchamber.org/rally-cowley/. When you by an E-gift card through this program, you are supporting food pantries and other basic needs for individuals and families in our community. Spend $25 on an E-gift card for use at your favorite local small business and in turn, a local family in need will receive $25 in support. The support is assistance with critical needs such as food, utilities, rent, or prescription drug costs. An area nonprofit, like Angels in the Attic, Cowley Cares Coalition at Eagle Nest, Inc, or Joseph’s Storehouse, is providing assistance now and in the coming months as the impact of this crisis continues to hit home.
