Burden Dayz Grand Marshals Announced

Burden Dayz Parade Committee is pleased to announce Lowell Smith and Delbert Peters as Grand Marshals for the Parade. “These two individuals owned and operated business in Burden for several decades and made meaningful contributions to our community” said Burden Dayz Parade chair Kimberly Tatum. Burden Dayz Parade starts at 11 am.

Lowell Smith and Delbert Peters were long-time business partners and operated D&L Service in Burden, KS for 45 years until their retirement. The two men began their service station at a time when gas was 0.19 per gallon and labor was $3 an hour. By 1967 they expanded their business to include a Jeep dealership selling Jeeps as far away as Peru.

Burden Dayz is September 14 in Burden, KS and begins at 7 am with Clinton Lodge #233 biscuits and gravy, vendors open at 10 am and the parade at 11. The fun continues throughout the day with FREE concerts, kids activities, vendors, food trucks, fun run fundraiser, PRCA rodeo and concludes with a dance. Check the Burden Dayz website www.burdendayz.com for a schedule as well as list of vendors.
